More than Dollars, It’s About Direction
Hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions, will touch our children’s bank accounts in their lifetime, but few are ever taught more than the principles of spending, saving, and giving. We’re changing that. By planting seeds of finance, faith, and freedom from the start, we’re helping to raise up a generation who is confident in their understanding of money and how it fits into God’s unique purpose for their lives.
Playful and Purposeful Seed-Planting

Teach young. Transform generations.
Money habits and wisdom take root early. By teaching kids today, we empower the capable adults and families they’ll become, recognizing they’re often more ready to learn than we might think.
We learn better together.
All lesson content is designed to spark meaningful conversations between kids and grown-ups. Families grow closer as they learn side by side.

Living Wisely, Loving Deeply
We believe our values shape a healthy perspective on money for families. We believe kids are more capable than we often realize, ready to learn how to use money as a tool to accomplish God’s unique purpose in their lives. The Rest Over Riches Money Explorers financial literacy course for kids teaches values that inspire a life of meaning over materialism.
It helps us meet needs and bless others, but it was never meant to be the goal. We teach kids to hold money loosely and use it wisely.
Money should support our calling, not our ego. True success is found in how we live and give, not in what we accumulate.
We don’t trade away our hours for things that don’t matter. Every moment is a gift that deserves to be spent with purpose.
Investing wisely prepares us for tomorrow, cares for our families, and creates room for generosity. Small seeds today can grow into big blessings.
Earning money is good, but becoming dependable, creative, and resilient is even better. We teach that working well is God’s plan for us.
Scripture is rich with guidance on how to handle money with integrity. We anchor our lessons in truths that have stood the test of time.
No one gets it perfect, especially when learning something new. We encourage grace, reflection, and learning after every misstep.
When families talk honestly about money, trust and teamwork grow. We create tools and opportunities to foster healthy money conversations.
Chasing more never ends, but learning to live with enough makes room for peace. We want kids to discover that true wealth is found in gratitude and trust in God, not in endless upgrades.
We don’t need to chase every shiny thing. Living with less can actually mean living with more joy and peace.
Our Story
We’re a family of six with a vision for living lives that prioritize relationship building and connectedness. Our vision for a life of purpose influences how we manage money, raise our children, and share with others.

As our kids entered the ages where they began earning their own money through household jobs, helping neighbors, and babysitting, it became clear that something important was missing from our homeschool curriculum. We needed a meaningful, age-appropriate way to teach financial literacy that was grounded in biblical truth.
I did not want financial lessons to be sporadic or reactive. I wanted more than quick conversations about spending or reminders to save whenever money came their way. Money plays a significant role in adulthood, and I wanted our kids to grow up with a strong foundation in stewardship, contentment, generosity, wise decision-making, and a biblical mindset toward work and provision.
As they grew, bigger questions began to surface. How do we teach kids about long-term thinking, investing, and the benefit of starting early? How do we equip them to navigate a world shaped by debt culture, comparison, and pressure to keep up?
The more I searched, the more I realized that most available resources focused either on practical tips or on personal finance rules without deeply integrating biblical wisdom. There were very few resources that blended Scripture, real-world money skills, and engaging learning in a way that kids could understand and enjoy.
This awareness led me to create what I wished already existed. Rest Over Riches began as a way to give my own kids a framework for managing money with purpose and peace. As I worked on it, I realized that many other families were looking for the same thing. With my background in design, my love of entrepreneurship, and a conviction that God cares deeply about how we steward what He gives, the curriculum took shape.
Rest Over Riches exists to help kids and families see money through God’s eyes and to learn how to earn, save, give, invest, and steward their resources in a way that leads not to striving but to rest.
The world’s race leads to exhaustion. God’s leads to rest.
Thanks for stopping by!
Sincerely,
—Joel
